| I am researching the Falting/Faltings name. (In some instances the ‘s’ was dropped) I have determined that the name Faltings originated on the Island of Föhr located off the Northwest coast of Germany. I have received information from some of the Faltings currently residing on the island that indicates conclusively that all persons born with the surname Falting or Faltings are descendants of Früd Faltings, born Dec 23, 1783 in Klintum/Föhr,and died Apr 20, 1851, . The lineage is recorded back to about 1580, but the patronymical form name system was used prior to 1828. I have complete genealogical information on all Faltings born on the island of Föhr. I have information on 12 families in the United States with the name Falting, of these 10 are directly related to me. I also have information on 4 families in Germany, and 2 families in Sweden with the name Falting. In addition I have information on 15 families in the United States, 22 families in Germany (including those on the island of Föhr), and 1 family in Switzerland with the name Faltings. I will share any information I have with anyone doing parallel research. |
