My name is Sara Falkove. I am the older twin daughter of Michael Falkove (son of Sydney Falkove and Naomi Suer Falkove, as well as a descendant of Feiga Pesa Tzioni and Moses Ber Soyer) and Lynn Snyderman Falkove (daughter of Louis Snyderman and Pearl Schop Snyderman).
I am an amateur historian who is intensely interested in our family’s past. Where did we come from? What have we accomplished? Who were our relatives who are unfortunately no longer with us? I am interested in not only the names, but their stories.
And you’re a part of that history. In the past, I have spoken to a few of you regarding a family tree that dates parts of our family back to the 15th Century. Although I did not find the archive, I did come across other family members, very distantly related, who have (in their own right) become fellow keepers of family records. I developed friendships in which, at the very least, we keep each other informed of our latest family events (marriages, births, deaths, etc…). I have also spoken to some of our relatives about their own personal histories.
I’d like to gather more information so that I can capture our family history on paper and make it available to hand down to future generations. Specifically, I am currently looking for information regarding our relatives’ lives. I would like you to think about the following questions: • What was life like in the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s,1960s, etc...? • How were you affected by the Great Depression? What hardships did you face? What were things you did for amusement? • How was your life affected by “The New Deal,” if at all? • What were your political beliefs, or were you uninterested in politics? Did it vary considerably with that of your siblings or parents? • What were you doing during periods of war? Did you fight overseas? Were you on the home front? Were you part of a protest movement? • What stories can you tell us about either your own antics or those of your relatives and friends?
