The TOSH FAMILY in America:

The earliest known TOSH on this continent was William Mackontoss, who was one of the Scotch prisoners taken at Worcester and shipped to New England in the "Sarah and John" to work at their iron words at Braintree, Mass.* He is no doubt identical to William Tosh, one of the orginal purchasers of Block Island (Rhode Island) 1660.
*Austin's Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Island" pp 207,459.

The next oldest family is that of Jonathan TOSH of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (died 1750). Two of his three sons went to Augusta County, Virginia (later Botetourt County, Virginia).

Later branches of the Jonathan TOSH Family of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania made their way to Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia.

There were other TOSH Families were in Maryland, Pittsylvania County, Virginia and Carroll County, Tennessee.

This is a skeletal view of the various TOSH Families in America.
