Elva and Eddie were married 54 years. They tented at Crystal Beach, Maryland, from 1932-34, before any summer homes were built there. They built their summer place in 1934 and enjoyed it until Feb.1976 when it burned to the ground. They named their cottage "The Bungles".

He also preached at Ogden Baptist Church in Ogden, Pennsylvania, where he also served as Sunday School superintendent, teacher and church deacon. For several years he was president of the Delaware County (Pa.) Sunday School Association. In 1952 he was called as pastor of North Harford Baptist Mission, Rocks, Maryland, which was organized in 1954 as North Harford Baptist Church. A new church was dedicated in October, 1957.
