Daniel Boone Moore came to Texas in l843.v He built the second house that was built in Prairie Lea, Caldwell County, Texas. He is said to be the cousin of Daniel Boone, the first pioneer of the":"dark and bloody ground." His wife was said to be the cousin of Col. Jim Bowie(l)

Daniel came to Hondo with his family in l852 and settled in Medina County, His place was ten miles sout of Hondo city, present seat of Medina County, in what was called Lon Moore Crossing on the Hondo River.(2)
