Updated June 11, 2001

ELAINE IS RESEARCHING:BELLARD: the ancestry of ANTOINE BELLARD, JR., b. ca 1742, son of Antoine BELLARD, SR. and Marie-Françoise GALLAND of Picardy, France. Antoine, Jr. was in Portobacco, MD, in 1768, where he was among a group of Acadian and German settlers bound for Louisiana aboard the ship Britannia. They were shipwrecked on the Texas coast and, with many hardships, worked their way overland to Attakapas Post in La. Antoine 's wife was Marie TRAHAN, the daughter of Honoré and his wife Marie CORPORON, Acadians. Antoine is a Patriot of the American Revolution, having served with the Louisiana militia under Galvez. Antoine married second Marie FOREST, daughter of Jacques FOREST and Marie COMEAU, Acadian exiles in St-Malo, France.
While I have much information on the BELLARD family to the present, I have been unable to find more on Antoine, Sr., and Marie-Françoise GALLAND.
