HOMAS PERKINS:
Thomas Perkins enlisted at Winchester, Virginia in October of 1781. He was a private in Browns Regiment, Captain Bohaman's Company. For his service, a $25.00 pension was paid per anum to Mary his wife. (Pension record Book E Vol 8 page National Archives Washington D C.) He left the service on March 4, 1782 served 6 months in the artillery (National Archives Washington DC Pension Papers # 5516 March 4 1831 filed from Bennington Township, Licking County, Ohio).

He came to Ohio in the year 1818 where his wife Mary recieved a pension for his service in the WAR OF THE REVOLUTION According to the act of 1832 .

note from Nola Rogers: the area of Milford Twp Knox Co and the Bennington Twp Licking county line is seperated at the cross road of Lock, the villege is in both townships and the Milford township house still stands right on the line. some of these Perkins families were members of the Milford Church of Christ formerly Simmons Church located just north of Lock in Milford Twp Knox Co Ohio. there is a good listing of Perkins in the old records of this church, Still active with a new building in the year 2000 still going strong. and if you are researching any of these families I might suggest that you make a visit to this Church and go take a look at the old records they published a Sesquicentennial Celebration book called through the years in 1990 contact Neil Moreland minister there. he is very helpful.


This marriage was preformed by the Reverend Mr Jarrett at Gerradstown , Berkeley County , Virginia reference to source, Revolutionary papers from the National Archives Washington D C . Thomas Perkins, Mary Perkins and it says or Perkins, Mary, File # W 5516 Ref: Ohio 22.602. Thomas Perkins of Licking County in the State of Ohio who was a Private in the Company commanded by Captain Brown in the Regiment commanded by Col. Buchannan in the Virginia Line for Six months in the Artillery. Inscribed on the Roll of Ohio at the rate of $25.00 per annum to commence on the 4th day of March 1831Certificate of Pension issued the 16th day of Nov 1833 and sent to J D Huston Martinsburg Ohio.
Arrears to the 4th of Sept 1833 = $52.50
Semi an. allowance ending 4 months 3 days = $ 12.50
total $ 75.00
