This lovely photo of Catherine Mary (Lovie) QUALTROUGH was taken when she was a young married woman, probably in the 1870s. She lived with her husband, William Qualtrough, at the time at Orakau, near Te Awamutu, New Zealand where they farmed. Catherine was born in Fraserburgh, Scotland, in 1848, daughter of James Lovie and Catherine Mary Fraser, who had emigrated to Auckland, New Zealand where they had land at Panmure. It is known that Catherine had one sibling, a brother James Lovie, who lived in Auckland, New Zealand. Catherine died in Cambridge, New Zealand in June 1919, 6 months prior to her husband William.
