BARNES:  C.M. Barnes, 89er
Cassius McDonald Barnes was appointed by President Benjamin Harrison as receiver of public monies for the United States Land Office in Guthrie, Oklahoma Territory, when the Unassigned Lands were deemed ready for settlement in 1889. He served in that position for four years, with his son, Bart, working as his clerk.
