I am researching the CARLISLE surname. My great grandfather wasJOHN CARLISLE, born 1810 in North Carolina, I believe, Halifax Co.

John left NC sometime after 1820. He is next seen in Bedford Co, TN on the 1830 census, with who I believe is, a brother and a sister. Also in that county are two more CARLISLE'S, both named William, and both between 40 and 50 years old. In 1832, one of the William CARLISLE'S had either left TN, or had died. I would like to find out if John is related to either, both, or none.

John married Matilda Ophelia PERRY, born 1819 in AL. Their first child, William, was born in 1836 in TN. Btween 1836 and 1842, they had moved to AL, where twin boys were born in 1842. Two more children were born in AL. Milissa Jane in 1844, and Francis Marion in 1846. Between then and 1850, the family migrated to MS, Chocktaw Co, where the last child, Harley Franklin, was born in 1850. The 1850 census was taken in September. Within the last three months of that year, Matilda died.

John remarried before 1858, to Nancy Jane SAFFELL. They're on the 1860 Chickasaw Co, MS census, with a two year old daughter, Clarinda Jane.

I would also like to find the PERRY family. William PERRY was born 1797 in KY. I don't know what county. I believe the family later migrated to TN. He married Jane STAFFORD, who was born 1799, in Chester Co, SC.

The surnames being researched are: Carlisle, Perry, Stafford, Hill, Springer, Eaton, Saffell, Gibson, and Vaughan.

I will be happy to share information.
