| I am researching both my family and that of my husband's. On my husband's side of the family, we are searching for FERRILL, GREEN, PATTON, PORTER, BROWN, SANDERS, DAVIS, HUDDLESTON, RASH and WEEKS. These families have been in the U.S. for countless generations, being mostly located in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia and Massachusetts. On my side of the family, we are searching for BA(I)NEY, YEAGER and TURNER, all from Centre and Clearfield counties in Pennsylvania. Also, OVERSBY, KAY and BURN(S) who came fromm England in the late 1880-1890's and settled in central Pennsylvania. My father and his family came from East Prussia. The names we are looking for from there are KROPAT/KROPAITIS, JUSSEIT/JUSAITIS, MATZAT/MACAT/MACAITIS, BROSZEIT/BROZAT, MESCHKAT/MESCAITIS, SCHLICK, STEINERT and HEIDER. Except for the last three names, all the others are Lithuanian German names. The last three names represent families who were exiled from Austria in 1732 and who emigrated to East Prussia as a result of religious persecution. These people were called the "Salzburgers."
