7.George4 Dyer (James3, John2 S.Dyer, Joseph1 Dyer) was born 1753 in Prince Georges County, Md., and died February 12, 1827 in Henry County Va..He married Rachel Dalton 1775 in unknown to date, daughter of David Dalton and Hannah Grant.She was born 1759 in Pittsylvania Co, Va., and died 1862 in HenryCounty, Va..
Notes for George Dyer:
George Dyer served as a Lieutenant in the Company of Captain Charles Williamson in the Rev. War, June 15,1776 ,Auth. 18th Vol. Folio 328, Archives of Maryland,published by Maryland Historical Society.
His will is on page 263-264 Will book #Henry County Clerk of Courts Office, Martinsville, Va. and reads as follows;
In the name of God amen, I, George Dyer of the County of Henry & State of Virginia,being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory and callingto mind the uncertainty of human life and being desirable to dispose of all worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with,do give and bequeath the same in a manner and form following; That is to say 1 st, I desire my Executor hereafter named to dispose of so much of perishable property as may be sufficient to pay all myjust debts & that they do pay same with money arising from the sale thereof.;
2.nd. I give and bequeath to my wife Rachel Dyer all the estate of which I am possessed ,after pay of my debts aforesaid, both real and personal during her natural life. 3 rd.At the deathof my wife aforesaid, I give and bequeath the tract of land whereon I now reside, to my
two youngest sons Joab and Jefferson Dyer, their heirsexecution and assigned forever to be equally divided. 4 th,I give and bequeath to my son Joab Dyer,one negro man named James to be psssessed and enjoyed by him and his heirs forever.
5th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Patsy Gravely, one negro woman, names Rear together with her increase to be posssessed and enjoyed by her and her heirs forever.6 th. I give and bequeath to my son Jefferson Dyer, his heirs and possess forever, one negro boy named Fed and one negro woman named Dolly.7th. I give and bequeath to my grandson Fontain Dyer and his heirs forever one negro man named Jack. 8 th. I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Fanny Thomasson,her heirs and assigns forever one negro girl together with her increase, named Eliza. 9 th. I give and bequeath to my two sons Joab and Jefferson aforesaid all the perishable estate equally divided between them of which my wife Rachel maybe psssessed at her death which is not herein or otherwise disposed .
And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons Benjamin Dyer and Joel Dyer, executors of this my last Will and Testement,
hereby revoking all former wills and testements, heretofore by me made.
In witness whereof I have I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal on the 15th day of March 1823.

At the Court held for Henry County 12th Feby. 1827
The foregoing last will and testament of George Dyer dec. was exibited in the court by Joel Dyer the executor,proven by one witness and ordered to be certified for further probate whereupon the said executor made oath and with Joab and Jefferson Dyer his securities entered intobond in the penalty of $ 3000.00 conditioned as the law directs .
And the said court held for said county on the 10 day of May 1830 the said will was further fully proven and ordered to be recorded.

It should be noted that his son Benjamin died sometime in 1825 and prior to his death. It is further noted that Rachel out lived except
Frances, Phoebe,Martha and Joab.
It should be further noted here that the exact marriage date and place of marriage has not been proven as of May 12,2001, It could have been Henry County and in 1775 there was not a Henry County, Va.. It is more likely Pittsylvania County, Va. however in this county some records are missing from this era. Both were living in Pittsylvania County, Va. during this period.
