The name loosely defined means a dweller near the spruce trees. FEICHTNER found many times in old Somerset & Bedford County,PA records.
Martin Fichtner may also have been known as Georg Martin FUECHTNER. Born in Germany - place unknown. Fairly certain to America in 1772, residing first in Lancaster,PA.

Married Catharina KRAFT/KRAFFT, daughter of Friedrich(Fredrick)- see 1779 Washington Co.,Maryland records. However, Kraft family resided near Chambersburg, Franklin Co.,PA.

Known children include Johannes (John)- no record after about 1800- and Martin,Jr. Another, George Adam Fichtner, died young??? One known daughter, Catharine. Suspect others, including a Susannah, who married John Weyand.
