John, born about 1788, was the oldest son of Henry Howser I.In 1810, when the enumerator for the Third Census, called on John, there was 1 white male 16-26 and 1 white female 16-26 in the household.
In 1830, just three years before John died, when the Fifth Census was taken the enumerator reported 2 white males under 10, 1 white male 10-15, 1 white male 40-50, 2 white females under 10, 1 white female 5-10, 2 white females 10-15 and 1 white female 40-50.
In John's Will, he gave to his wife, Nancy, the choice of one of his two plantations to live on.The other plantation, along with the slaves, were to be rented out.The money was to be applied to the raising and education of his minor children.
When the Sixth Census was taken, it listed Nancy as the head of the household.There were also 1 white male 5-10, 1 white male 10-15, 1 white male 30-40, 1 white female 10-15, 1 white female (Nancy) and 1 white female 70-80 (Jane - Henry Howser I's second wife).
Before the probation of John's Will was finalized, Nancy died.In her Will, which was attached to John's, she listed her children Alpheus, Parthenia Martin, Fanny Boston, Hampton H., Kathy Noble, John, Nancy and Samuel Wright.The last three children were minors.
