Worked all his life in textile mills. He and his wife Lettie are regular churchgoers. In the late 1930's Lettie taught Sunday School at Concord Baptist Church, Granite Falls, N.C. During 1940's they moved to Rutherford College, Burke County, N.C.. He still tells(2003) about helping his uncles make liquor and the troubles associated with transporting it during the 1920's.
