Notes for J
OBE MEADOR:
[Coombs 1185850.FTW]

Jobe Meador was born in Frankly County, Virginia on his father's plantation (Indian Run). May 28, 1812 - Jobe Meador purchased a tract of land immediately west of and adjoining that of his brother, Jonas, on the west side of Stratton's Branch of Long Creek (Smith County, Tennessee, Deed Book D, Page 190, May 28, 1812). This deed was witnessed by his sons, Ephriam and Ambrose, who were at the time the only sons of legal age. Jan 12, 1836 - He sold 82 and a half acres of this land to his son Joel. He had also received several land grants, 150 acres in 1826 and 25 acres each in 1832 and 1835. Jobe Meador sold the last 100 acres of his land to his son Anderson on April 15, 1839 (Smith county, TN Deed Book P, page 91). This was apparently his last act, for on the 1840 census Martha appears as a widow, living with her son Joel Meador. Jobe received 200 acres from his father's estate, Indian Run in Franklin County, Virginia. At that time he was about 40 years old and had been married nearly 20 years. After Joel Meador's death, his children began migrating to Smith County, Tennessee, probably due to hard times that culminated in the "Panic of 1809". So Jobe sold the property at Indian Run to William Smith on August 24, 1811 (Franklin County, VA Deed book 6, page 183). Jobe Meador's children, Ephriam, Deaton, Millie, Elizabeth and Clarissa moved to Illinois in the 1830's. Sons Joel and Joseph moved to Wayne County, Missouri. Only Ambrose, Anderson, and Martha remained in Tennessee.

I am descended from and researching Phillip Meadow s that lived in
Greenbrier Co., WV and passed there. I had seen a FTM WFT CD that listed
Jeremiah as his father. I had the Appraisement Bill and Sale Bill of
Jeremiah Meadows Sr. copied for me. In it the buyers were Joel Walker,
Lewis Bragg, Abraham Meadows, Samuel Higgenbotham, Nancy Meadows, Rueben
Pet tman, Michael Bragg, William Meadows, Isaac Meadows, David Gan, John
Hinton, Jeremiah Meadows, John Brickler, Daniel Bragg, John Guinn, Susan
Davis, Jacob Richmon, Samuel Fox, Adam Bragg, John Davis, Thomas Bragg,
Phillip Meadows, Samuel Richmond, E. J. Gwinn, Thomas Bragg, & Sapson
(sp?) Zickfoose.
Are Je remiah, Abraham, Phillip, Nancy, William, & Isaac Meadows all
childrenand rel atives of Jeremiah Sr.? Abraham Meadows aged 37, William
aged 27, Isaac aged 42 and Jerry aged 35 are found on the 1850 Raleigh
Co., WV census. I took thi s info off of the Raleigh Co., WV website.
The Samuel Higginbotha aged 45, Reu ben Pittman aged 32, Samuel Richmond
50 & Jacob Richmond 67 are also listed. Where did you get the info on
Jeremiah Srs. birth as Orange Co., VA and his exact death date?
The A. B. and Sale Bill were on the 7th & 9th of Sep. in 184 3 in Fayette
Co., WV Phillip Meadows A. B. & Sale Bill were in Dec. 1867 in G reenbrier
Co., WV. Here is what I have on Phillip Meadows. He was born 1798 - 1800
from census records. He married Rosana (Anna) Howard 2/9/1820 in Monr oe
Co., WV . She was the daughter of Jacob Howard from info on WFT CD. I
have the Monroe Co., WV abstracts by Larry Shuck and have found several
entri es for Jacob Howard and Lots of Meadows and variations. Here is the
only cens us I have for Phillip Meadows right now.

The other 2 daughters were Sarah and Elizabeth Meadows. Elizabeth
Meadows married Joseph DICK. They are my 3rd great grandparents. I found
most of this off of the WFT CD. The census and other info I am findi ng
seems to support the correctness of the CD and maybe Phillip being the
s on of Jeremiah MEADOWS, SR. Do you know who the parents of Francis
MEADOWS a re? I have other family lines that are MEADOR and have seen the
trees on the numerous MEADOR/MEADOWS lines. The CD listed my Phillip
Meadows birthplace as Rockingham Co., VA. I have yet to check this. Do
you have more info on Fr ancis and Jeremiah Sr's wives lines? I would
appreciate any info you have on Jeremiah Meadows Sr. and all Meadows
relatives
