* David Finster Family Home Page*

Updated September 6, 2000

Parts of my family have lived in California for five and six generations. Being the descendant of "pioneers" is interesting, but it means they all kept moving west before very complete records were kept in most of the places they lived!I am currently looking for information on ancestors of my 2nd Great-Grandfather, William Riley Wooley, born in Knox County, Illinois, in 1837. He moved to California some time in the 1850s, where he married Sarah Elizabeth Cason (also spelled "Casin", who was born in Missouri in 1856). William's father was also named William, but I have no further information on him.

Finally, I'm looking for information on George Herman Finster, born April 10, 1819, in Germany, died December 20, 1903, in Steamboat rock, Iowa. George is my 2nd Great-Grandfather. I found his name on an immigrant passenger list for the ship "Europa," from Bremen, Germany, arriving in New York in 1847. But I can find nothing about his parents, or where in Germany he came from.
