I am looking for Ancestors and descendants of John Findley,b.1808 and his wife Sarah L.(Cain ?),b.1808.John and Sarah were my great grandparents and both were born in Abbeville, SC.In 1838 the family moved to Holmes Co. MS and in 1848 migrated to Rusk, Cherokee Co.,TX.The family later moved to Alto,in the south part of the county.Four of John and Sarah's sons served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War.John d.in 1865 and Sarah d.in 1884 and both are buried in the Old Palestine Cemetery near Alto.During the 1870-1885 period their sons left Cherokee Co. for central Tx, living in Leon,Bosque,Hill,Johnson,and Baylor counties.If your surname is Findley or if you are related to the Findleys and you live in central or west TX you may a descendant of John and Sarah Findley.I have extensive data and welcome all contacts.
