I am looking for paternal family, both grandmother and grandfather's roots. My grandmother's birth name was Minnie Weissman, born in Breslau Selesia Prussia/Germany (now Wroclaw Poland) in the 1880's. She had six siblings only one of whom survived. His name was Carl or Karl. The other five children died young. I believe my great grandmother's birth name was Ernestina Wolff. She married my great grandfather Charles(?) Weissman, probably in the 1860's or 1870's. I have good reason to believe that my great grand parents were Jewish, but I am not positive. The spelling of the Weissman name has varied over the years, but records in Madison Wisconsin show the name as I have spelled it here. Although I have not been able to locate passenger lists or even the existence of the vessel which brought my great grandparents to the States, I have been told that they came to New York upon the India, sailing from Hamburg Germany in approximately 1886.
I am also looking for the Finn family which once resided in Sarratogo Springs New York. My grandfather's name was Arthur. I do not know his parents' names nor when he came to Wisconsin.
I do know he married my grandmother, Minnie Weissman, somewhere in Wisconsin between 1890 and 1910. It is also possible that my Finn family were not of Irish or English descent, but may also have been Eastern European Jews. I am by no means certain of religious identity, but there are clues that suggest that the Weissmans converted from Judaism to Lutheran at some point.

It would be wonderful to find a connection to more accurate information or to hear suggestions about progressing my search.
