| William & Honora (Cotter) Finn emigrated with their children to the United States in 1852. The family arrived in the port of New York on November 20, 1852 aboard the ship Iowa, which set sail from Cork & Liverpool. The family came through the Castle Garden Immigration Center. The Finn family came from the Townland of Kilbarry, Parish of Dunmanway, County Cork, Ireland. The children were: John, William, Julia, Dennis, Johanna (Hannah), and twins Honora & Catherine. The family settled in the Detroit/Hamtramck Michigan area. There was a Finn family already living in the Detroit area when they arrived, this was the family of Jeremiah Finn. I have researched this family and believe that Jeremiah was of some relation to William Finn. I am looking for any information that would connect William with Jeremiah Finn, or any connections to either family that would link them back to Ireland, or any future generations that were decendants of William or Jeremiah Finn. There is also a tie with the Finn family in Talledaga, Alabama. I am not sure how they are tied together. Surnames that intertwine with the Finn family tree are: Kane, Sullivan, Cotter, Campbell, Blum, Minda, Keiser. |
