I am searching for the ancestry of my great grandfather, Thomas D.Findlay who was born in Wicklow County,Ireland,in 1811,(near Mount Lugnaquillia). He had two brothers,John and Richard, both born before 1811,who emigrated to Birmingham, England. Thomas' father died when he was quite young and his mother remarried to a Hawkins. This union resulted in at least one son, James Hawkins, who emigrated to Huron County, Ontario, Canada. He later emigrated to the United States.
Thomas D.Findlay, had earlier emigrated to Canada and married Mary Anne Sharpe in 1837 in Lindsay ,Ontario. They settled on a farm in Plympton Township,Lambton County, Ontario, near Sarnia, Ontario. There were six offspring, including my grandfather,German Findlay, the youngest. An older daughter, Mary Ann Findlay, born in 1837, married a Fitzgerald who had a son,Arthur Fitzgerald, who raised a family in Michigan,in the United States.
