Apparently, James H. Dean (relationship to Robert mainly by marriage) lost his first wife, Elva A. Fargo Dean, shortly after their daughter Arvilla was born. At that time, James put Arvilla in the care of Robert Dean and his wife Angeline. We have sought for the relationship between James and Robert that would indicate sufficient closeness to justify this trust. Having found no way to connect Robert and James, Joseph Romeo came up with 1850 Delaware census records where Angeline might be James' sister, though the name is Angelica and the family tie is tenuous. The ages match, the surnames are all spelled Dean, and the three children are all in the same location. The tie is tenuous because the children are not all in the same household and none of the three we have found are living with the father George. We presume this is because George and /or wife Sarah Durham may have died by 1850. This is speculation, we are seeking more documentation.
