From "Indexed Lists of Landowners from 1876" of the Downriver Genealogical Society, 1980, Robert Miller and son-in-law John Perkins owned adjacent farms on the east side of Haggerty Road, John's on the southeast corner of Harris Road and Robert's immediately to the south of that. Each had 40 acres.

From Dick Klopshinske, quoting book by Jeanne Hartwick "Sumpter Township 1840-1910" which quotes from 'History of Detroit and Wayne County and Early Michigan' Vol II, by Silas Farmer 1890.
"JOHN PERKINS was born in Kent Co., Delaware, March 23, 1839, and came to Michigan with his parents and settled in the town of Canton, Wayne Co. His father still resides there [1890 I assume]. George [?] removed to Sumpter in 1783 [sic - DWF, 1873?], and purchased the farm of 40 acres he now lives on. On Oct. 9, 1862, he married Miss Anna M.[aria] Miller, daughter of Robert Miller, of Sumpter. They had eight children, seven of whom are living, viz.: Clara, Ida, Sarah, Agnes, Sally, Annie, and Etta. Clara married Augustus Schultz, of New Boston." In the same book is an atlas for the year 1876, which shows that R. Miller and J. Perkins have adjoining 40 acre farms in section 1 of Sumpter township. W. Pickerem's farm is a couple of miles away. An 1892 atlas map has J. Perkins on the same farm, and also a J. Perkins on a farm in section 14, near that of W. Pickerem. Robert Miller apparently has sold his farm, as it now belongs to N. McNaughton.
