ORNELIUS HANDSOR:
Biographical Directory of Kent Co., DE:
Cornelius Handsor, son of William of Jolley's Neck, inherited the patented lands from his father. His mother was Mary Handsor. In 1773 he conveyed the southeastern part to his half-brother Nehemiah.

Named in father William's will 26 Aug 1756 (date will written). See father's notes.

Heite and Heite, "Fork Branch/Dupont Station Community: Archeological Investigations on Denney's Road, Dover, Kent County, Delaware." Delaware Dept. of Transportation Archeology Series No. 37, 1985, p. 10. "William Handsor died in 1768, leaving his land to his younger son, Cornelius. In 1773, Cornelius sold the northwestern part of his land to Benjamin Wells; Jonathan and Rachel Handsor, his brother and sister, later signed quitclaims to this portion in 1776 and 1788.
In 1774, Cornelius sold the rest of his land to his older brother, Nehemiah. This sale was described in terms of the original patent and on paper was but a narrow strip along the patent's southen boundary. In fact, it comprised the area from a point a little to the north of Denney's road to Mudstone Branch and extended beyond the present Saulsbury Road to the west of the project area."

EHEMIAH HANDSOR:
Biographical Directory of Kent Co., DE:
Nehemiah Handsor ( -1785), son of William Handsor, born about 1716-1720, appears in the tax list for Sussex County in 1739. Made his will in 1785. Witnesses were Lewis and Ruth Gano and Daniel Billiler. To his son Nehemiah he left property in tail. His other son was William. His wife Johannah and Peter Miller, Sr., were named executors. He left the west part of the property to his widow Johnannah in trust for granddaughters Elizabeth and Jemima.

Lynn Jackson on Mitsawokett:
Nehemiah Hansor, the son of William Hansor, was born in Sussex Co. DE. He appears in the 1739 Sussex Co. Tax Lists so he was probably born sometime before 1720. It is not clear how long Nehemiah stayed in Sussex Co. after his father moved north to Kent Co. in 1735.
Although his father originally left Jolly's Neck Farm to his youngest son, Cornelius, Nehemiah acquired the farm from his half-brother around March 1773. Cornelius had already sold off a portion to Benjamin Wells.
On 15 December, 1785, Nehemiah wrote his will. In it he mentioned his wife, Johannah Handzer, his son , Nehemiah Jr. and his 2 grand-daughters Elizabeth and Jemima Handzer. The will also quite clearly describes Jolly's Neck Farm and the division of the property.
Nehemiah Jr. was already living on his portion of the estate at the time of his father's death. The other portion was left in trust for the two granddaughters. 1788 Orphans Court records for grand-daughter Elizabeth Handsor indicate that she (and Jemima? ) was the daughter of William Hansor. This tells us that Nehemiah had another son, William, who died before Nehemiah wrote his 1785 will.
It is not known exactly when Nehemiah Sr. died. The final accountings were made on 30 November 1787 . Sometime prior to 1788, the widow Johannah Handzer remarried, Saunders Oakey of Sussex Co. DE.
The known children of Nehemiah and Johannah Handsor were :
William Hansor married Bridget
Nehemiah Hansor
When Johannah re-married Saunders Oakey, she moved with him to Sussex Co. Granddaughter, Elizabeth, presumably chose to remain behind in Kent Co. which is why she petitioned the Kent Co. Orphans Court for a new guardian. There is no mention in this petition of her sister, Jemima, so we do not know what became of her.
Since Jolly's Neck Farm eventually passed to Elizabeth, it is not clear what became of her uncle, Nehemiah Jr. He disappears from the records after 1785 so it is possible he never married.
