Descendants of George Durham

5. BENJAMIN2 DURHAM (GEORGE1) (Source: Lynn Jackson.) was born Bet. 1818 - 1825 in Delaware (Source: Sources disagree.), and died 01 Sep 1888 in Delaware (Source: Lynn Jackson citing death certificate.). He married SARAH ANN HANSOR (Source: Lynn Jackson.) ca. 1848 (Source: Lynn Jackson.), daughter of CORNELIUS HANDSOR and ANN MDNNMUNKN. She was born ca. 1828 in Delaware (Source: Lynn Jackson.), and died 11 Nov 1905 (Source: Lynn Jackson.).

Notes for B
ENJAMIN DURHAM:
There are two Benjamins who might be this son of George, mentioned in George's will. Both are born in the early 1820s. Joseph Romeo holds that Benjamin in PA in 1850 (wife Mary) is the son of George and that Benjamin in DE in 1850 (wife Sarah) is the son of Handsor Durham, citing a land record for the latter. There is not enough census data for Handsor Durham to establish family members and family size. However, Benjamin in DE in 1850 is living next door to William, son of George, which may indicate a family partition of land to two brothers, both sons of George.

For the time being, DWF is listing Benjamin in DE in 1850 as the son of George, pending further information.

1850 DE Kent Dover 100 p321wr 3 Oct 1850 - all mulatto, all bDE

Next door to William and Mahala Durham, also a landowner. In order on same page after William: James and Sally Karney, Angelica (76) Hanzer, Wingate and Nancy Mosely. Near top of page: Robert and Phebe Karney.
1860 DE Kent Dover 100 p65wr p65st 8 Jun 1860 - all mulatto, all bDE
Benjamin Durham 35 [occup blank], Sallie A. 28, Margaret 14, Daniel 10, Annie 6, John 4, Harriet 2, Enoch 1
Sallie A. Cambridge 40 on same page (may be related to Angelica Hanzer). Robert and Phebe Carney family above Sallie, including Elizabeth Muncy 5 (grandchild?), Ann Mosely 50 and Benjamin Mosely 25. Greenberry and Hester Becket next to Carneys.
1870 seeming double-listings:
1870 DE Kent Little Creek 100 (Kenton) p30wr 23 Jul 1870 - all mulatto, all bDE

Names of Benjamin and Sallie are correct, but Benjamin's age is apparently off by about 10.

Deran and Lydia's names are wrong (possible copying error), but age is close. The list of children is so similar.
