Mitsawokett obituary: Capt. James H. Johnson, 78, of RD 4, Laning Wharf Road died early Tuesday afternoon at Bridgeton Hospital after having been stricken at his home. He had been in failing health the past year.
Born in lower Hopewell Township, he was the son of the late Caleb and Annie Durham Johnson and the husband of Sarah Reba Pritchett Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson had celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary last September.
Mr. Johnson was self-employed as a charter boat captain in Fortescue, as well as a builder of both homes and boats.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Eleanor Cuff of Millville, Esther Nyberg of Upper Deerfield Township, Katherine Pierce of Elmer, Olive Beckett of Parvins Mill Road and Marguerite Johnson of Vineland; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, James D. Johnson, who died in l971.
Services will be conducted by the. Rev. Earl R Heckman, pastor of First Wesleyan Church, from the Sray Funeral Home, Carlls Corner, on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will be made in the family plot at Fernwood Memorial Park Friends my call Friday morning one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Death Notice: JOHNSON _ Of RD. #4, Laning Wharf Road, Bridgeton, N.J., suddenly on Tuesday July 17, 1984. Captain James H. Johnson, husband of Sarah Reba Pritchett Johnson, and father of Eleanor Cuff, Esther Nyberg, Katherine Pierce, Olive Beckett and Marguerite Johnson, aged 78 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday morning, July 20 at 11 a.m., from the Sray Funeral Home, Carlls Corner with interment in the family plot at. Fernwood Memorial Park. Friends may call Friday morning from 10 to 11 prior to the services.
