Descendants of George Durham

56. LILLIAN4 DURHAM (JOHN M.3, BENJAMIN2, GEORGE1) (Source: 1900 census.) was born Oct 1896 in Delaware (Source: 1900 census.), and died Aft. 1930 (Source: 1930 census.). She married WINTER CARNEY (Source: 1900 census.) ca. 1916 (Source: 1930 census.), son of JAMES CARNEY and HARRIET DURHAM. He was born 08 Jun 1883 in Delaware (Source: 1900 census.), and died Aft. 1930 (Source: 1930 census.).

Mitsawokett family reports discuss the adoption of Shallie Marie Durham, apparently born out of wedlock. It may be that her mother was a Sinclair, from the oil company family. The father is not known, but apparently was named Durham. It might be the George Durham listed in 1910 with Winter Carney. Apparently, her mother gave her to Winter Carney in a part somewhere and was never in contact with her again. Winter took her home to Lillian and they raised her. Age 14 in the 1930 census, Mitsawokett shows her birth as 23 Jun 1915 in one place and 23 Jun 1912 in another.

No census listing has been found for Ernest's wife or children in 1930. Mitsawokett reports that she is Margaret J. "Maggie" Durham, daughter of Enoch Durham and first wife Margaret Muntz. It is more likely that she is the daughter of Enoch and his second wife Lola. The children cited are Pauline (who died) and Ernest Jr. Maggie Durham is cited as mother on Pauline's death certificate.
