Ruth¹² O'Connell (Ethelyn¹¹ Barnecott, Sarah Ann¹⁰ Vanderbeck, Harmen⁹, Paul⁸ Vanderbeek, Paulus⁷, Paulus J.⁶, Jacob⁵, Paulus⁴, Conrad³, Paulus², Cornelis¹) was born April 11, 1908 in 1060 Tremont Avenue, Bronx NY, and died August 1988 in Syosset, NY. She married Harvey Fischer June 23, 1929 in Manhattan, New York, son of Israel Fishman and Fanny Grossmann. He was born August 30, 1899 in New York City?, and died December 1968 in 3009 Kingsbridge Terrace, Bronx, NY.

Notes for Harvey Fischer:
Harvey Fischer was born on August 30, 1899. His birth certificate lists him as Marcus Fishman. Marcus was his mother's father's name. His name must have been mis labeled, or it was changed shortly thereafter to Samuel Fishman. At some point he began going by the name Samuel Harvey Fishman. He soon changed the spelling of his last name to Fischman. His release from the army in 1918 (he served one day and was released with $1.00 pay) listed him as Samuel Harvey Fischmann. Unfortunately, that release paper was stolen from me with other notes in Manhattan. His marriage certificate in 1929 lists him as Harvey Samuel Fischman and two years later he was going by Harvey S. Fischer.

Harvey was a dress salesman and performed for a while in Vaudeville. He was known to be a ballroom dancer during this time and befriended George Raft, whose real name was George Rampf. Many years ago, I saw a check made out to George Rampf in 1927 for fifty dollars. I was told it was a loan that was never repaid. Harvey went into business for himself; however, it did not go well. He worked for two companies primarily during his married life. He spent many years with John Tuman and Sons. He married Ruth at his apartment in June of 1929. The marriage was performed by a Rabbi. Unusual for the time.
