Both BEVERIDGE and FYFE families hail from the county of Fife in Scotland. They eventually settled in and around Kirkcaldy, and most of their descendants remain in Scotland and England. James FYFE, born in Dysart, Fife, Scotland in February 1811, was the son of James and Christian Stephenson Fyfe. A corporal in the 93rd Regiment of Foot, he served in the West Indies and North America, presumably Canada, from 1830 to his retirement in 1851. James married Christina McLEOD 18 February 1848 in Dornoch, Sutherland in the parish of Loth. Christina's parents were John McLEOD and Jessie RAMSAY. James and Christina's first child and only daughter, Jessie, was born in 1850 in Dundee, Forfar. She married David BEVERIDGE on 13 July 1880 in Elder's Brae, Kirkcaldy. Jessie died in 1905 and David in 1916. David, the son of Robert BEVERIDGE and Cecilia FISHER, had become a baker with a shop at 311 High Street, Kirkcaldy. He retired in 1899 turning the business over to his son Robert. James and Christina's other children were: John (b. 10 Oct. 1856, Dysart, Fife), James (b. 14 June 1858 in Kirkcaldy, Fife) and George (b. 22 Aug. 1860 in Kirkcaldy,Fife). Two other sons, James born 25 September 1852 died before 1858, and William born 3 September 1854 and died before 1871. The parents and wife of Robert BEVERIDGE is still a mystery; however, Cecilia Fisher's parents were David FISHER and Mary McNAUGHTON. David and Mary were married 23 March 1802 in Aberdour, Fife. Any information on parents and/or siblings would be appreciated and I am willing to share any documents and information that I have found.
