The journey into my family history started with a collection of photographs in an old, battered, leather suitcase. The collection belongs to my mother, Annie Hoolahan who had inherited it from her mother, Annie Partington. They had written on the back of some of the photographs, so this started my research into who all these people were. Some of them I remembered from childhood but I decided to find out about my Great grandfather, John Partington, first of all. I have now filled in quite a lot of the past between him and me and realised that there are many questions I would like to ask him.
I have also met cousins, John and Richard Howe, who I have not seen for about forty years or more. This was at the sad occasion of my father Philip Howe's funeral. This has led to further research into his family going back to the eighteenth century.
