We are primarily researching the Fletcher, Knight, Covington, Hough, Bartkus and Tissing surnames. Our Fletchers originated with Joseph W. Fletcher and Catherine Warth in Gallipolis, OH.Their great-grandson brought our branch of the Fletchers to the Mountain Home, AR, area. Some names associated with the Fletcher surname are Beavers, Haney, Heiskill, Kindle, Rogers, Scherer, Berry, and Chapman.Our Knights started with Henry A. Knight and Katherine Curry in North Carolina. James W. Knight and Nancy Savage brought our branch of the Knights to the Buford, AR, area. Some names associated with the Knight name are Curry, Shirley, Roberts, Covington, Taylor, Martin, Beers, and Short.
Our Tissings started with Roelof Jans Tissing in Holland about 1710. Four generations later, Otto Tissing brought his family to America in 1888 and settled in Chicago. Names associated with the Tissing name are Zwart, Boersma, Case, Oberheide, Saari, Bernard, Neckvatal, Box, DeYoung, Tanis, Hough, Ballantyne, Buell, Belding, Miller, and Williamson.
Our Bartkus family came from Lithuania to Chicago. Not much is known about this name. Names associated are English and Farley.
