They came as free setlers, merchants, to work for others and as convicts, but one thing they had in common, they all came from a long way overseas. I am researching any of my ancestors and their decendants, especially those associated with the Connertys of Wellington, New South Wales, Australia, whose origional immigrant was the convict, Edward Connaughty, born in County Westmeath, Ireland about 1809 and sentenced to seven years transportation for an unknown crime on 22nd July 1835. |
