Notes for Patricia Ann Shipway * Patsy *:
There are so mamy things to tell about this LADY ! There are only a few people in your life time that you meet like Mom, she was always doing for you, hard worker ,tender, her family was #1. Mom was so much apart of our lives that when she died I know each of her kids at one point wished they could of went with her and none of us could even enigine how we could make it in life without her.Moms funeral line was so long they had State Police to direct traffice ,when we were going over the over head bridge of Cumberland the cars were still coming over the hill out of Lavale . I think eveyperson Mom ever met was there to see her off.
Mom loved her Grandbabies so much ,even with her having Nancy only 1 year before she started getting the grand kids she was so obsorbed by them.Only 5 were blessed to be held by her but I know she is watching over the All of them she always wanted a Grandson she never got to see the 3 she was blessed with but Boy would she proud of them ! Lydia Sue would have ruled the house out on the Mountion. The Great Grandkids will only be blessed with stories that those who were apart of this ANGELS life can share.
When I smell fresh cut grass and close my eyes I can feel Momand I know when I hear a whipper whill it is her letting me know she is near.In the summers evening when it was time to settle in for the night she would take me to the back porch and we would set on the bench and she would smoke her cigeratte and I would lay my head in her lap while she played with my hair and we listened to the whipper whill seemed like for hours as i look back on my memories .
Mom canned in the summer she was always in the garden pulling the weeds [I set between the rows and talked to her while she worked] or picking some kind of harvest we would always stop and take a nap at 1 when Days Of Our Liveswas on, I thought I was so smart I would lay on top of her so she didnt leave me if I fell asleep -she could roll right out from under me everytime-Lunch alot of times was **** salad dressing and suger sandwiches** and on the hottest days she could go into the little room off the kitchen and find a bottle of Coke every time !
One of the FEW times I remember getting a smacking was when I hide under the Plum tree beside the house to paint my dolls finger nails bright RED. As Mom yelled louder and louder I knew that the more she yelled the harder I was going to get it so I wouldnt answer her. When she FOUND me I GOT Itlooking back I know it was more of a you scared me to death whoopen then a mad one .
We went to get our drivers license together Bess Twigg took us in this BIG boat she drove. Daddy bought me a 50$ ford falcon the the floor were gone you could set in it and see the ground . We would take turns driving to Flinstone to the store , on one of Moms turns we went right by the store to the firehall parking lot where this car was parked next to the edge of the lot beside a bank that dropped off the the cree I thought Mom was going to turn around by driving into a big circle She did ! she hit Dotts car all the way up the side trying to push it over the bank the whole time never saying a word just made a turn sround and stopped at the store bought what she needed and home we come.
Living in the country like we did it was strange to have people stopped as they passed the house so when Dad wasnt home we were the protecters . One time some one was stopped art the drive way so Mom grabbed the 22 rifle and through up the window on th prouch to fire off a" threat" shot only to shoot right through the proch roof. we laughed till we about pissed ourselfs. Oh yes any story of Mom would not be complete in less you were remembered how everytime she laughed or coughed she always crossed her legs and laugh harder.
On the dark side of Moms life when she was little she was sent to Pa to live with her Aunt & Uncle because her parents and her Grandmoter didnt want her ! Mom could tell horror stories abuot her stay there Her uncle Effe was the under taker for Artimas and she remembers how nice he was to her but Aunt Mary would lock her in the closet, burn her with matches and if Mom wet herself she had to wear it . when her uncle was coming up the drive aunt Mary would let her out and threaten if she told him she would really get it the next day. Mom went to live with her father and step mom Margeret in her teen years she had good memeries of living with Grandma Margeret
