2. Richard² Fletcher (John¹) was born 1775 in England, and died 1865.

Notes for Richard Fletcher:
The first of the Fletcher family who lived at the Ferry was a yoeman,
Richard Fletcher, who appears to have been a scholar as well as a farmer.
A mathemathics book filled with stupendous problems solved in an elementary
and cumbersome way bears witness to his ability in 1791 (the date of the
copybook) while in fine writing, scrolls, and the lettering is as beautiful
as the modern mathematicians' writing is deplorable. He was buried at
Barnby Dun.
