Hopefully this will be the beginning of a comprehensive family history of the Fleischman's of Western New York.

The surnames I'm researching are: Fleischman, Guenther (Gunther), Schuchardt, Schutrum, Vogel, Falkenhahn, Poetting, Schuster. All these families were living in Buffalo, Erie Co., New York from 1870 to 1900.

Christian Fleischman was probably the first of my Fleischman's to come to the United States. He shows up in the Buffalo, New York City Directory in 1872 and was married to Elizabeth Guenther in 1873. His parents Adam Fleischman and Margaret Martin are listed on his marriage record. His wife Elizabeth's parents names are William Guenther and Catherine Hild.

Christian and Elizabeth had 13 children. At least 6 of the children never saw their second birthday. The mortality rate at that time was frightening. Other than John Christian, my great great grandfather, I know very little about the other children. The names of the children who survived were: Catherine, Gulielmus, John Christian, Joseph, Anthony, Elizabeth, and Fred.

I would love to find anyone with information about the other Fleischman children.
