, 7 Jun 1996, Rechtenbach (Palatinate) is very close to the French border (neighboring area: Elsaß). By the way Anna Kathrina Dilger, born in 1763, was the mother of Ludwig Lorenz, born in 1803, Ludwig had also a brother Georg, born in 1798; a sister Maria Barbara, born in 1800; a sister Elisabeth born in 1806. The Christian name of Ludwig's father is unknown so far, but I will find it. All Information I have up to now originates from the military conscription records for Bergzabern county (I microfilmed the records in 1988).

Gertrude Lorenz 1854-1896, Born December 21, 1854, Died May5, 1924.
SHE IS NOT THE SISTER OF FRANK V. LORENZ.
She is George ( April 5, 1847- May 21, 1917) Lorenz's wife .
Frank V. Lorenz's sister name was also Gertrude. Her middle intial is L. She was married to Christopher Roofner. She was born in 1875 and died in 1962. Her husband Christopher Roofner, born in 1871, died 1922. They had a daughter: Christine T. (Roofner) Enterline 1913-1987, married to Clifford E. Enterline, 1915-1973.
This is what is so confusing. There are so many with the same name that I some times get them mixed up. Dates of all the above confirmed with stones in the Rimer Hill Cemetery. That why I like someone to check my info.
Aslo:Leonard Lorenz-1912-1982 Frank and Elizabeth (Butler) Lorenz son was buried at Tidal Cemetery first, but the body was moved to Rimer Hill Cemetery several years back.
Sorry for the confussion.
Hope to here from you soon. Have made connections with Lona. It is great to me all of you.

Eight Four Area Resident Dies in Fire
Victim Entered Home from Yard;
Rescue Try Fails
An 86-year-old blind woman, Jennie Lorenze, Eighty Four R.D. 1, fleck from the safety of her yard to her death in her flaming home this morning.
Coroner L.C. Gray reported that Mrs. Lorenze and her sister, Annie Lauderbaugh, 79, with whom she lived, were both in the yard of the two-story frame house about 10 o'clock when the firew was noticed.
No one could acount for the reason the victim returned to the house.
Houston volunteer firemen were called to the scene, but Chief Clark Welch reported the roof feel in only about 10 minutes after the firemen reached the blaze.
Even before the firemen were present, four Manufacturers Light and Heath employees, working near by, attempted to get the victim out, but were unable to combat the flames. The men were Wilbur Miller, Roy Duckworth, Jim Rhodes, and Floyd Ullom, according to Coroner Gray, who investigated the death.
The home is about a mile west of Route 31 near Eighty Four and adjacent to the J. Foster Porter farm, in North Strabane Township, Gray said.
Firemen battled the fire for two hours before the body was recovered and moved from the scene by William Speakman, Houston funeral director.
Coroner Gray said that three sons of Mrs. Lauderbaugh, Kenneth, Wayne, and Charles, lived at the house, but were not home when the fire started.
Firemen Could not account for the origin of the fire.

The Washington Report - Washington, PA, Wednesday, 1 August 1956, Tragedy Hits Twice;
Two are Victims
Aged Woman Dies
in Flames; Nephew
Heart Stricken
Tragedy struck twice in a North Strabane Township home yesterday. An elderly woman perished in a fire at the home and her nephew died of a heart attack when he learned of her death.
An 86 year-old blind woman, Mrs. Jennie Lorenze, Eighty Four, R.D. 1 died when she entered her burning home about 10 a.m. in an effort to rescue her injured dog.
A nephew, Kenneth Lauderbaugh, 52, died about 6 p.m. on the lawn of a neighbor shortly after he returned home and found the house burned to the ground andlearned that this aunt had perished in the fire.
Deputy Coronor William F. Speakman said Lauderbaugh died of a heart attack.
Mrs. Lorenze and a sister, Mrs. Annie Lauderbaugh, 79, lived in the two-story frame home with Mrs. Lauderbaughs two sons, Kenneth an Wayne.
About 10 a.m. yesterday, the two women were in the yardwhen they discovered that the home was on fire. Mrs. Lorenze entered the burning home to rescue her dog.
Soon after the woman entered the house, four employes of the Manufacturers Light and Heat Company, who were working nearby attempted to go into the burning building and get her out but they were driven back by the intense heat and smoke.
The Houston Volunteer Fire Company arrived shortly after 10 a.m. and found the whole house ablaze. Chief Clark Welch said that the roof caved in about 10 minutes after the company arrived. The firemen poured water on the house for two hours before they could enter the ruins and recover Mrs. Lorenze's body. The body of the dog, which she had gone into the building to save, was found nearby.
Kenneth Lauderbaugh returned home late yesterday afternoon and learned of the tragedy. As Red Cross officials, neighbors and relatives were discussing temporary housing on the lawn of the burned home, Lauderbaugh and his mother were across the road in the yard of a neighbor. ...see rest of article.

Brookline Boy Gets $6 Mail from Nasser - Krushchev, Franco also on list of letter-writting teen-ager
Should the egyptian government go broke, *** year-old Brookline boy would have to take some ** blame.
Lyall Lorenz, a freshman at Prospect High School has been sending letters to President Gamal Abdel Nasser and, so far, received three replies. "He sends them by air mail and each one costs him well over $2," said Lyall. "I spend only 63 cents when I write to him."
Lyall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lorenz, 208 Hargrove Street, also sent letters recently to Spain's Generalissimo Francis Franco and West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer.
Just last Saturday he sent one off to Premier Nikita Khrushchev at the Kremlin. He isn't too hopeful that the Soviet dictator will take the time to write him about general conditions in the USSR.
"First of all, I don't think the letter will ever reach him," Lyall said. "And if it does, he'll probably sidestep the issues, anyway."
Lyall started his letter writing a year ago after reading up on Canada in school. Since then he has received pamphlets from that country, France, and Mexico. The Mexican brochure was in Spanish, but that didn't bother Lyall any.
"I was a member of the Spanish Club in the eight grade and now I 'm studying French and Latin," he said.
Lyall is pretty proud of his letters from Nasser. They have discussed his election, the Suez Canal crisis, and problems in the United States.
His letters are short," said Lyall. "I guess he doesn't have too much time for writing, being the president."
After his graduation from high school, Lyall would like to get into radio or television as a newscaster. Then about "15 or 20 years from now" he would like to enter politics.
Letters were not found within his estate).
