Welcome to my Flinn-Melton Web page! My name is Cherri Flinn and I've had a wonderful time meeting new cousins and sharing our family history with other researchers. I have now accumulated over 11000 names in my family tree over the past few years. Thanks to those who have helped contribute in any way. A special thanks to researchers of the Flinn family who searched before me and those who still work on that tree -- namely Forest Farris, Jerry Wentworth, John Flinn, Bernice Martin, Cynthia Keezer, and Clarice Mitchell. I would be happy to share any information that I have, but I am presently in the process of adding more cousins to my ever growing family tree, as well as sources. Automation moves quickly, I on the other hand move slow, so be patient with me and eventually I'll repost my trees. The very best part of genealogy has been the connections I've made with newfound cousins and old family ties. Our Flinn family saga begins in Ireland about 1700 with Laughlin Flinn and his wife Elizabeth who came to this country with their children. The family has a rich history of descendents, who as pioneers, helped to settle their brood in Lawrence County, Indiana. The Melton family is still a mystery to me and so far I have only 6 generations and do know a few facts about the family. They were Catholic and raised at least 5 of the generations in Martin and Daviess Counties in Indiana. I believe Thomas Melton Sr. (born about 1825-1830)came from Kentucky. Any help researching either of these surnames would be greatly appreciated.*A few other family surnames that I am researching are: Strange, Tomey, Pershing, Compton, Young and Thomas. Most of the geneology behind these names will be in the Knox, Daviess, Martin and Lawrence Counties in Indiana.
