  Notes for ELIZABETH BISHOP:
In the petition of Elizabeth's siblings to divide and sell the slaves formerly owned by Sarah Hamblin Bishop on 11 Mar 1861, Elizabeth is mentioned as being deceased. Elijah R Wood (of Talladega Co, AL) was appointed to represent her estate throughout the case. Her share of her mother's estate came to $839.82.

  Notes for STEPHEN P STEED:
Some family files list Stephen's surname as Sneed. Probate Court records of Talladega Co, AL, which were filed petitioning for division of slaves owned by Stephen's mother-in-law (Sarah Hamblin Bishop) record his surname as Steed.
Previously, this researcher had looked for census records for SNEED but was unsuccessful in locating this family. Perhaps a search of the name STEED will be fruitful.

By 1856 Stephen Steed and his wife Elizabeth had moved from Alabama to Jefferson Co, Arkansas. After Elizabeth's death (which is presently unknown), Stephen relocated to the Little Rock Post Office area of AR according to the numerous probate records referred to above (11 Mar 1862 - 16 Sept 1862).

  Notes for JAMES BISHOP:
James was listed in the 1840 and 1850 census of Talladega County, AL, living in the home of John W Bishop, but this researcher does not believe he was a son of John W Bishop. James was NOT mentioned in the will of John Hamblin, nor was he mentioned in the petition of John W's children to divide and sell slaves that had belonged to their mother, Sarah Hamblin Bishop. .
