      Mary came from the old family of Fuqua living in the lower part of Buckingham County, VA. She was a relation of Colonel Joseph Fuqua of Buckingham.
      She was of the Episcopalian faith.

From the notes of Gladys Warren Willis, John was an Episcopalian Minister. He did missionary work for the poor in Washington D.C. He was very good looking. Marguerite DuPont (of the now famous DuPont family) had a crush on him. She tried to use her money to influence him.

From Memoir of Henry Flood Bocock: William had been a Revolutionary Soldier. He was not of military age when he went into Service. His brother John was a volunteer, but for family reasons wished to stay home, so William took his place and served three years as a private. He would never ask for a pension, and always said he had fought for Liberty, not a pension...He despised a mean act.

She died Bef. 1791 in Isle of Wright Co., VA. He married (2) JUDITH STROTHER Aft. 1791. She was born Abt. 1766, and died Bef. 1850.

5. NOAH² FLOOD (JOHN¹) was born November 02, 1763 in Buckingham Co., VA, and died October 02, 1818 in Buckingham Co., VA. He married (1) SALLY WORD October 30, 1784. He married (2) SARAH FUQUA November 30, 1785 in Buckingham Co., VA, daughter of WILLIAM FUQUA and MARY FORD.

Notes for NOAH FLOOD:
      Noah served in the Revolutionary War before he was married to Sarah, who filed a pension application in 1841 at the age of 78. He was wounded in the right hand, leaving him with a permanent      disability. His land was located 7 miles west of the courthouse and was still undistributed in 1863

Marriage Notes for NOAH FLOOD and SALLY WORD:
      There is some question as to this marriage. It has not been proved that there was a Sally Word that Noah was married to. The question may have arose, due to how names are written, in a family bible record. Noah was listed as being married to a Sallie ( last name spelling is questionable]. This may have been Sarah or it may have been another as Sallie could easily been a nickname of Sarah.
      There is various dates of Noah's marriage to Sarah due to the legibility of the bible record and her pension application. Which one is right? Until proven all should be listed as the possible date with reasons.
