I am researching my great grandfather Patrick Flood, born November 1844 in Ireland, perhaps in County Longford near the border with Westmeath, and who immigated to the United States in 1866. He married Mary Ratchford (or Rochford)at Our Lady of Victory R.C., Brooklyn, NY on November 25th, 1869. He had one sister, Eliza Flood, that we know of, who married a Michael Austin. Her death certificate lists Thomas Flood and Bridget McGovern as her parents. We have also found 2 others who were married at Our Lady of Victory who had parents of the same name and were born in Longford: Margaret Flood, who married James Cassidy, born in Westmeath, and Catherine Flood, who married David Kennedy, born in Meath. Both marriages took place in 1871.

There was also a Catherine Ratchford, born in Sligo, parents were Jimmy Ratchford and Honorah Canly, that married a Henry Hagan, born in Derry, at Our Lady of Victory in 1870.

One of his sons, John Francis Flood, my grandfather, married Madeline Klebaur at Our Lady of Victory on April 18, 1900. Her parents were Victor J. Klebaur and Jane Gallagher. John Francis Flood constructed railroads and railway bridges in Brooklyn, Long Island and Pine Bluff, Arkansas. After the depression he was a Superintendant of Maintenance for the NYC Parks Department at Prospect Park in Brooklyn

This is an ongoing project, and I ask for any comments, suggestions, or leads that you may have, particulary as to where Patrick Flood came from in Longford, Westmeath or other county in Ireland.

This tree also includes my maternal side, Konrad Hepp, from Maroldsweisach, Bavaria and Wilhelmina Engle, from Hielbronn.
