Notes for LUKE DILLON:
Luke Dillon was a red-headed weaver, who emigrated to America from Ireland. He married Susannah Garrett, the daughter of a wealthy family in Ireland. Her father did not approve of the marriage, and promply disinherited her. "A hale-fellow-well-met," Luke became addicted to drink, and one winter evening while under the influence of liquor froze to death on his way home from the mill where he was employed."
