The Folger - Cole Family Home Page

I am researching both sides of our family. I have a lot of information on my husband's FOLGER side. His family goes back to Nantucket several different ways. Latham FOLGER was the first FOLGER to move from Nantucket to North Carolina. He married Matilda WORTH (also from Nantucket) there and had 15 children. After 50 years in NC, they and some of their children moved to Indiana. Some of Latham's children and grandchildren also married people whose ancestors came from Nantucket. Some of the Nantucket names I am researching are: BARNARD, BUNKER, COFFIN, GARDNER, STARBUCK, SWAIN, and WORTH. Later names in this line are: HILLEGAS, BOLDT, and SHANNON.I do not have as much information on the COLE line. The earliest direct COLE I have is Nelson COLE who was born in Rhinebeck, Duchess County, NY in 1833. He married Anna MCBETH in St. Louis where he ran a business and also served in the military during and after the Civil War. He finished his military career as a Brig. General. His wife's line goes back to Daniel HEATH who served in the Revolutionary War. Other names I am researching are REYNOLDS, OTWAY, BARTMAN, HANESWORTH, and SCOTT.
