Daniel LeBlanc (b. 1626, d. Abt. 1695)
Notes for Daniel LeBlanc:
Stephen A White, BIM Declarations (From Lucy Consentino's web site):
LE BLANC, Daniel, came from France with his wife, according to ten depositions: five from his great-grandsons (Doc. inéd., Vol. III, pp. 42, 48, 50, 88, 117), four from his great-great-grandsons (ibid., Vol. II, p. 189; Vol. III, pp. 55, 115, 120), and one from the husband of one of his great-great-granddaughters (ibid., Vol. III, p. 54). An eleventh, from his great-grandson Honoré LeBlanc, but in which his grandson Joseph LeBlanc dit Le Maigre seems to have collaborated (ibid., Vol. II, p. 170), adds that this wife was Daniel’s second, and that she and her husband had brought with them Marie LeBlanc, the daughter of Daniel’s first marriage. Unfortunately, none of the eleven depositions that speak of her French origin mentions this wife’s name, but Françoise Gaudet is shown to have been Daniel LeBlanc’s wife by four Acadian censuses (see DGFA-1, p. 666). Father Archange Godbout proved through an analysis of various marriage dispensations in an article published in 1952 (“Daniel Leblanc,” SGCF, Vol. V, pp. 4-9) that the first marriage was actually Françoise Gaudet’s, and that while her daughter was indeed named Marie, she was Marie Mercier, and not Marie LeBlanc.

LeBlanc family
Telegraph-Journal, Wednesday, August 3, 1994; p. A6
Daniel LeBlanc and Françoise Gaudet are the ancestors of one of the largest Acadian families in the Maritime provinces. Neither the place of origin nor the parents of Daniel LeBlanc are known. Some have pretended that he came from Martaizé in Poitou, or from the province of Dauphiné. However, lacking proof or documents, his birth place has not been identified with any degree of certainity. Daniel came to Acadia in the spring of 1650 before the death of governor Charles de Menou d'Aulnay. He then married Françoise Gaudet, daughter of Denis and Nicole Coleson, one of the oldest families of the young colony. It is likely that Daniel came to Acadia under contract to governor d'Aulnay. He became one of the most successful farmers in Acadia during the 17th century. He settled along the banks of the Port-Royal river where his children were born between 1651 and 1664. Five sons married and gave the couple 35 grandchildren.
On the eve of the Deportation, the LeBlanc family was already the largest in Acadia and was found in all of the main Acadian communities such as Port-Royal, Grand-Pré, Rivièr-aux-Canards, Chipoudie, Port-Toulouse, and Port-Lajoie. Along with their Acadian compatriots, the LeBlancs would undergo the trials of the Deportation. Most of the victims of the expulsions between 1755 and 1758 were exiled to Anglo-American ports, in France and in Québec. Others managed to escape their enemies and found refuge in the forests of present day New Brunswick. After a few years of resistance from the forest, these fighters surrendered to the British authorities in 1763, at the end of the Seven years War. Once freed from the forts, descendants of Daniel LeBlanc and of Françoise Gaudet settled in different areas of the Maritime provinces. LeBlanc families are numerous in the Gaspé, in southeastern New Brunswick, at Baie-Sainte-Marie and in Wedgeport in the southwestern area of Nova Scotia, as well as on Île-Madame and in Margaree on Cape-Breton. Contributed by Fidele Theriault of Fredericton, New Brunswick.

This is what Stephen White (a LeBlanc descendant), Genealogist Moncton University Centre for Acadian Studies, states in his recently published Dictionnaire Généalogique des Familles Acadiennes:
i. The place of origin and the ancestors of Daniel LeBlanc are unknown. Some have wanted to believe that Daniel descended from a noble family of Dauphiné, based on research by d'Entremont (J. Alfred LeBlanc - the Origins of the LeBlanc Family, "Footprints of the Exiled: A LeBlanc Family Newsletter", vol I, 1986, p. 7), but the family proposed (to René to Alphonse to Pierre) is a Blanc or deBlanc family, rather than LeBlanc (see MM. de La Chenaye-Desbois & Badier, "Dictionnaire de la noblesse, 3e édition, Paris, 1863, vol. III, p. 314-317).
ii. The jointly-owned land mentioned below, leads us to believe that there existed a bond of some kind between Antoine Gougeon and his son-in-law Guillaume Blanchard on one side of the family and with Daniel LeBlanc on the other. The nature of the connection is yet unknown.
Historical notes:
Daniel LeBlanc settled on the north bank of the Port-Royal River (today clled Annapolis River), to the northeast of the marshlands of Bélisle, about nine miles further up than fort at Port-Royal, and a half mile further down than Saint-Laurent chapel, where he died between the years of 1693-1698 (Placide Gaudet "Arbre généalogique de Mgr Edouard LeBlanc, évêque de Saint-Jean, N.B. (First Acadian Bishop), BRH vol XVIII, 1912, p. 357).

May 24, 1690: Daniel LeBlanc is one of six members of the Council demanded by Phips and responsible to maintain the peace and to render justice (BRH vol SVIII, p. 357).
