This Foresta/Walsh family tree started as a simple search to locate our ancestors and to establish a record of our immediate family. It quickly started to grow and as bits and pieces of information was obtained, more questions were raised and more answers were sought. Our intent was to hold the list out as far as first cousins but that soon led to second and third cousins. At the present moment, there are approximately 501 names shown and I am sure I have missed some obvious ones. The Foresta/Cosco/Mancino side of the family originated for the most part in Southern Italy in the village of Petilia Policastro in Calbria. The Foresta/Gelfo/Sarda side of the family is also from Southern Italy in the village of Strongali in Calabria. The possibility exists that some ancestors immigrated from Sicily. The Walsh/Manderville/Woodworth side of the family has origins in Canada and Ireland. Immigration was generally through Canada. The Walsh/Monk/Robinson side of the family is primarily from the United Kingdom, generally from Oldbury, which is located near the present City of Birmingham. The majority of this side of the family (we believe) immigrated into the United States. With this many entries, there are probably a number of mistakes that I need your help to correct. Please look over your branches of this tree and send me your corrections and/or additional information.
