Descendants of William Forman

35. EZEKIEL8 FORMAN (THOMAS7, EZEKIEL6, SAMUEL5, AARON4, ROBERT3, JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born September 09, 1770 in Monmouth, County, New Jersey, and died April 26, 1836 in Mason County, Kentucky. He married DOLLY WOOD February 10, 1808, daughter of GEORGE WOOD and ELIZABETH WHITEMAN.

Notes for E
ZEKIEL FORMAN:
His father gave him a farm on Mill Creek in Mason County where he resided until his father's alzheimers called him to the Washington homestead where he resided until his father's death in 1825. He was a farmer and engaged largely in the rearing of sheep. His rugged honesty and his native virtues both of mind and heart are remembered whith admiration by his numerous posterity. I remember him as a tall and brawny man weighing about 200 pounds. He walked with a cane and his dignified carriage and his stern and marked features commanded respect. Both elbows were stiff from white swelling in his infancy. In eating he always placed his elbows on the table to bring the food to his mouth. He was an excellent disciplinarian and governed his household with firmness, yet reared his children for usefulness, temperance and religion. Though not a church member himself, he inculated the the preceps of the Bible and nearly all his posterity are connected with the Presbyterian Church. Though stern in manner, his heart was full of kindness. I remember once meeting him in Washington a short time after my father's death. He called me to his knee and with one hand on his cuff and the other on my head, he blessed me for my father's sake. He spoke in terms of tenderness of my father and encouraged me to emulate his virtues. His memory is embalmed in the hearts of a greatful posterity.

  Notes for JAMES BROWN FORMAN:
Wednesday, 6 August 1862 Louisville "Daily Journal":

"Captain J. B. Forman, of the Fifteenth Kentucky Regiment, Colonel Pope,
is in the city [Louisville], and will remain until Tuesday next [12
August]. Any letters or small packages for the regiment left with Mr. W.
J. Anderson, Main street, previous to his departure, will be conveyed to
the regiment by Captain Forman."

Fifteenth Kentucky Volunteers. - We understand that Captain M. C. Taylor
and Lieutenant A. H. Chambers of the Fifteenth Kentucky, Colonel Pope,
have arrived in the city, and intend to open a recruiting office to fill
up this regiment. The Fifteenth Kentucky is splendidly officered, and has
seen service. We know of no other regiment with a finer reputation for
discipline and courage. With such advantages we see no other reason why
these gentlemen should not promptly secure all the men they need. The
Fifteenth is now at Huntsville, Ala. The location of their [recruiting]
office will be made known.
