Notes for MATTIE LOU BOYETT:
Killed in a car accident in Altha, Florida, shortly before Christmas 1959 while delivering presents to the needy. Her daughter, Ella was also killed, along with Ella's granddaughter, 5 year old Sharon Scipper.

Mattie and Henry T. Forte lived in Atlanta, Georgia prior to his death in 1934.

After the death of her husband, Henry T. Fort, Mattie Boyett Fort lived in Atlanta, Georgia with her son George. After George and Jewell Ayers were married, she moved with them to Altha, Florida, where Jewell was from.

The place of Henry Tolbert Fort's birth is a mystery at this time. His death certificate shows his place of birth as Georgia. His son, Alvin Forte's, delayed birth certificate shows his father's place of birth as Culbert, Alabama. I have been unable to find such a place in Alabama. There is a Cuthbert, Ga in Randolph Co, and a Colbert/Franklin County in northwest Alabama, on the Mississippi line.

Mattie Lou Boyett Fort's death certificate indicates that she was born in Cuthbert, Randolph Co, Georgia.
Henry's year of birth is shown at 1851 on some sources and 1855 on his death certificate.
1930 census shows Henry's age as 78, which would put his DOB as approximately 1852. The census indicates he was married at age 24, and that his wife Mattie was age 15. Both show places of birth as Georgia for themselves as well as their parents.

Living in the household of Henry and Mattie is their daughter Celia Virginia Locke and five of her children. Also living a home are George, age 27, Alvin age 21, Bessie age 19 and Crawford, age 15. All children show places of birth as Alabama.


Henry spelled his last name without the "e". The 1930 census for Georgia, Fulton County, Atlanta, shows the spelling with the "e".

The 1880 census for Randolph Co, Ga shows Talbot Fort, age 20, born Georgia, living in the household of Sarah E. Jordan, as her son. This age differs from other documents.
