5. CHARLOTTE3 POTTS (MARY/POLLY2 FOSTER, WILLIAM1) was born Abt. 1830, and died Abt. 1893. She married ISAIAH LANIER.

6. GILES NELSON3 FOSTER (TILMAN2, WILLIAM1) was born 1832 in Davidson Co. NC, and died 05 Sep 1887 in Denmark, Madison Co. TN. He married TABITHA EDDINGER 1853.

Notes for GILES NELSON FOSTER:
In 1860 Giles was 26 years old and working as a carpenter in Thomasville, Davidson County, NC. His brother, Hiram, aged 18 was living with him and working as an apprentice.
On 16 Apr, 1862, Giles enlisted as a private in Co. A, 10th Battalion, N. C., Heavy Artillery for the war. He was appointed Artificer 01 Jul. 1862. Transfered to Co. A, 2nd Regt, Confederate Engineer Troops during August 1863.
He was not found in the 1870 census, probably because of moving with his family to Tennessee at about that time.
An 1877 map of Denmark, TN shows a house on Main Street belonging to G. N. Foster. The 1880 census shows him living in Denmark and working as an undertaker. His wife had died. With him lived one servant, a widow named Emma Bond, aged 48, who did cooking for him.
In 1881 he bought an additional adjacent lot. He died in Denmark and was buried at the Denmark Presbyterian Church.

7. THOMAS M.3 FOSTER (TILMAN2, WILLIAM1) was born 1834 in Davie Co. NC, and died 1877 in Gibson Co. TN. He married SARAH JANE BANKS 03 Aug 1859 in Davie Co. NC.

Notes for THOMAS M. FOSTER:
In 1870, Thomas and his family were living Jerusalem Township, Davie County, NC. He was a carpenter. Sarah Banks was a daughter of his stepfather, John Banks, before he married Thomas' mother. Shortly afterward, Thomas and his family along with his mother and step-father moved to Gibson County, TN.

8. JOHN MURPHY3 FOSTER (TILMAN2, WILLIAM1) was born 03 Apr 1836 in Davie Co. NC, and died 16 Nov 1919 in Winston Salem, Forsyth Co. NC. He married COMFORT ANN ORRELL 17 Jan 1859 in Davie Co. NC, daughter of FRANKLIN WOOD and MARTHA ORRELL.

Notes for JOHN MURPHY FOSTER:
In 1860, John and his family were living in Shady Grove, and, in 1870, in Fulton, Davie County, NC and was a house carpenter.
He served in Co. F, 42 Regt. N. C.

In 1870, Azariah was 30 years old and lived with his family in Jerusalem Township, Davie County, NC. He was a carpenter. He was buried in the Fork Baptist Church cemetery.
