12. CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS4 FOSTER (GILES NELSON3, TILMAN2, WILLIAM1) was born 14 Feb 1854 in Thomasville, Davidson County, NC, and died 20 Sep 1906 in Jackson, TN. He married SALLIE F. MOORE 24 Oct 1876 in Madison Co. TN..

Notes for CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS FOSTER:
On his head stone he is shown as C. C. Foster. He signed his letters Columbus. However, the 1895 Jackson, TN directory lists Foster, Christopher C. From this I surmize that his full name was Christopher Columbus Foster. (No wonder he used C. C.)
In 1880, Columbus was 25 and was a school teacher in Denmark.
On September 21, 1887, he signed over his half of the property of Giles N. to his sister, C. V. Hardee. The property was a house and lot in the Denmark, Fifth Civil District of Madison County, TN. Giles had died on September 5.
In 1891, he was a clerk at 107 E. Lafayette and lived with Eugene at 110 W. Baltimore.
The 1896 Jackson Directory lists: Foster, Christopher C., groceries, queensware, notions, tinware, etc, 105 E. Lafayette, res 120 W. Deaderick. This is Columbus because his sons lived at the same address. From a letter Columbus wrote to his sister July 21, 1901, Columbus had overextended himself and lost his business and money.
In 1900, Columbus had set Eugene up as a grocer at 102 E. College St. He is listed as a salesman at the same address. Clarence was in school. They lived above the store.
When he died in 1906, he was an agent for Met Insurance Co. and lived at 124 Wells St.

Notes for SALLIE F. MOORE:
All her records including her marriage certificate list her as Sally F. Moore. For some reason, perhaps an error, the name on her tombstone is Sarah.

1896: Herbert was driver for White Star Laundry and lived with his father at 120 W. Deaderick St.
1900: He worked as a clerk at 207 E. Main St. and lived at 102 1/2 E. College with his brothers and father.
1901: His father described him with " a very bad arm for a long time."
1906: The city directory shows him at 100 1/2 E. College. (Same place?)
Herbert died less than two months after his father.

13. CHRISTINA VIRGINIA4 FOSTER (GILES NELSON3, TILMAN2, WILLIAM1) was born 1860 in Thomasville, Davidson County, NC, and died Unknown in ?. She married MAJOR/MAYER BENJAMIN HARDEE 26 Feb 1877 in Madison Co. TN, son of MAJOR HARDEE and ELIZABETH BELL.

Notes for CHRISTINA VIRGINIA FOSTER:
The Hardees sold the property in Denmark that Christina inherited to H. C. Neville in August 1888 for $450.
