6. Information. Obituary Richard Goff Bailey, 70, of 301 Wright Street, Weston, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, following a sudden illness. He was born July 28, 1936, in Weston, a son of the late French C. Bailey Sr. and Greeta Goff Bailey. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eleanor L. Linger Bailey of Weston; one son, Michael Richard Bailey of Weston; one granddaughter, Brannon Louise Bailey of Weston; two sisters, Roberta Schoch and husband William A. of Ithaca, NY, and Elladene "Dee" Heskett and husband Gene of Weston; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen Mark Linger and Todd Allen Bailey; and one brother, French C. Bailey Jr. Richard retired from Equitable Gas in 1997 as a plant operator with 40 years of service. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Marines, enjoyed hunting and fishing and had previously raced cars at Eldora Raceway. Friends were received at the Floyd Funeral Home of Weston on Sunday, February 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 19, at the Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Clifford West officiating. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew.

Stokley entered his pumpkins in the fair. Here's what the October 5, 1874 issue of the "Weston Democrat" newspaper had to say. SOME PUMPKINS....Features of special interest among the agricultural products at the fair were some pumpkins raised on his farm by the exhibitor, Stokley Jackson, ESQ. We had often heard of "some punkins" but had we such some before. Not quite large for a hotel there were of sufficient dimensions to accommodate a small family."
