Zachariah’s first wife, Sarah Bowe, was the descendent of Henry Bowe. Henry first took land grants in New Kent County, Virginia, the parent county of Hanover, in 1714 and 1719, on Crumps Creek.His third land grant, in 1723, was noted as being in Hanover County, founded three years before.With these grants, he owned 593 acres along the branches of Crumps Creek.15It is possible Sarah’s mother, Sarah Fitzpatrick Bowe, lived a very long life, as a Sarah Bowe was noted in the Hanover County Census of 1782.
